Armaité Espadrilles in Idaux-Mendy

Created in 1979, it was Pascale Pereira, third generation of sandal maker, who took over the ARMAÏTE company in 2002. Trained by her father, a master craftsman, for 18 years, she has been able to keep this family adventure going.

In our small workshop in Idaux Mendy, small hands make espadrilles, surrounded by the old machines of yesteryear which still purr like in the good old days. ARMAÏTE has kept the traditional methods of our ancestors: the molding of the soles is done by hand, the rubber is vulcanized on the soles. The outline is always drawn with chalk, on cotton canvas, and cut out with a band saw.

Our team welcomes you throughout the year in our factory shop to help you discover our creations. To the traditional classic espadrilles are added fancy espadrilles, colorful bags or even different models of purses and key rings.

We also open the doors of our workshop to you, to share our family passion with you. You will find Claude there, who has braided jute and vulcanized soles for 36 years. You will be able to enter the hubbub of the workshop, to observe the helping hand of the assemblers, who assemble the espadrilles with the same gesture as that of the old ones.
