    • Located in the heart of Biarritz, facing the Rocher de la Vierge, the Biarritz Aquarium invites you to explore the wonders of the seabed. More than sixty aquariums await you!

Start your visit with the Bay of Biscay where you can admire jellyfish, octopuses and seahorses, among other species of the Atlantic coast.

Then, dive into the past with an ultra-panoramic short film offering a 180° immersive experience on three walls, retracing the genesis and history of the Aquarium since the end of the 19th century.

Let yourself be transported to the Roaring Twenties with the “neo-art-deco” exhibition Ocean [bluz] by the artist Good Bye Hippocrate. A series of vector illustrations that will transport you to Biarritz in the 1930s.

Relive the festive and eccentric atmosphere of this era, alongside the house's emblematic octopus, a revisited Virgin and Child or even a shark swimming in the stairwell of the building dating from 1933.

An explosion of colors accompanied by Charleston music.

A gallery of offbeat and poetic portraits, an experience not to be missed!

Continue your exploration through the renovated Cetacean Gallery and listen to the song of the humpback whales. Discover the new cabinet of curiosities revealing fascinating marine treasures: fossils, corals, skeletons, giant squid immersed in formaldehyde, shark jaws, dolphin fetuses, sawfish rostra...

Then join Alice the loggerhead turtle in her cave for a life-size face-to-face.

Highlight of the visit: don't miss the animation around the feeding of the seals Izar and Charlie, every day at 10:30 am and 5 pm. Our aquariologist technicians will explain the functioning of our Care Center, where we welcome seals stranded on the beaches in winter. Discover how we take care of them before reintroducing them into their natural habitat.

Enjoy the panoramic terrace with a breathtaking view of the Basque Coast extending from left to right, from Spain to the Landes. To eat, a snack bar with an ocean view (adjoining the seal terrace) is available from April to October.

Throughout your visit, let yourself be amazed by the pointillist frescoes of the artists Romaround and La Zipolita. Their works, representing giant turtles, cetaceans and an XXL octopus, immerse you in a fascinating aquatic world. These artists committed to biodiversity, use their art to raise awareness and educate , in order to better protect our environment.

These frescoes, created during a live painting performance spanning two and a half months in the heart of the Aquarium, transport visitors into an underwater whirlwind composed of millions of dots.

Continue your exploration in the waters of the Indo-Pacific , where you will discover the mysteries of distant warm seas. Admire coral reefs and brightly colored tropical fish. You will see fascinating marine species such as surgeonfish, clownfish, moray eels, and green turtles.

Discover the hypnotizing broom 10 different species of jellyfish , be amazed by the gigantic 1.5 million liter aquarium housing 8 species of sharks and majestic rays! The Biarritz Aquarium also exclusively welcomes the only scalloped hammerhead shark present in France.

      A breathtaking spectacle.

As a place of knowledge, the Biarritz Aquarium plays a crucial role in the conservation of marine life. Through educational programs and informative exhibitions, it raises public awareness of the challenges facing the oceans.

The missions of the Biarritz Aquarium: educate, raise awareness, preserve and amaze.

The aquarium offers a decent variety of marine life, with the large shark tank being a highlight, providing an impressive view. I highly recommend a visit. However, the seal tank had noticeable algae growth, giving us a cloudy view. The seals are fed twice a day, once in the morning and again in the evening, so I recommend timing your visit for one of the feedings to enhance your experience.

Lovely place to see different aquatic creatures. Different types of fishes, tortoise, seals etc. 14 euro entry fees for students on showing student card. Nice view of sea from the location.

My kid is almost two and he love it! Is not huge is big enough to spend 2 hours on it and is walkable for kids. They have a lot of sharks and spaces to sit and enjoy the fishes. A snack space, seals, turtles and a beautiful view. It was not super full so you can enjoy it with the stroller with not a problem.

It’s worth visiting to enjoy the retro style building that feels very Miami and very art deco (no surprise) . Super structure.
