    • Nestled at the confluence of the Nives and at the crossroads of the roads serving the entire Basque Country (10 minutes from the Spanish border and 45 minutes from Saint-Jean-de-Luz, 1h15 from Pamplona), this charming city invites you to discover its rich historical heritage, its gastronomy, its festivals and its landscapes.

Since its foundation at the end of the 12th century, on the initiative of the king of Navarre, Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port has become the key city of the kingdom of Navarre in its lands on the northern slopes of the Pyrenees. Ideally located at the foot of the Cize pass ports and along the great Pyrenean crossing route via Roncesvalles, the city became a stronghold, a garrison town, a commercial crossroads and a Mecca for the pilgrimage to Compostela.

Xabier was so helpful! And knows so much about the entire area. He is patient and kind and clearly loves his work. I could have talked to him for hours. Anything you want to know about the area—be it activities, driving routes, history, events— he will certainly be able to help you and will do it with a smile. Highly recommend.

They helped us finding the mini bus. Nice and polite lady there. They gaved us a free map of the city.

Hi, we are planning to go to French Camino in April. Are you going to work then and is it possible for us to walk the road?

I showed up in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port with no accommodations and very little plans for my Camino (just a 6 week window to get from SJPdP to SDC). The volunteers here helped find me accommodations...
