    • They were shaped by drops of water with wisdom, modesty and perseverance. These ancient caves are home to a stream, the Urtxume, and a history. We invite you to discover it throughout a 40-minute "sound and light" tour, enhancing all the beauty and power of nature . According to legend, this is where the laminak lived, whose voices still seem to echo in the water that flows through the depths of the site.

The Urdax Caves were inhabited by our ancestors at different times in the Paleolithic and Mesolithic periods. The famous French speleologist Norbert Casteret discovered in 1930 "a magnificent shelter under the rocks", Berroberría, and "a cave with engravings", Alkerdi. The Alkerdi Cave houses, at the end of a corridor, engravings made on a stalagmite. They represent a bison and a deer and probably also a horse, and they date back to the Upper Magdalenian, around 13,000 years ago. However, it is currently impossible to contemplate these drawings, for conservation reasons.

Obviously we are not going to go because you cannot enter with dogs. Those of us who travel with them, what do we do? Did we leave them at a gas station? Supposedly it is "to preserve the cave" but pets today are much more educated than any human who is going to enter that place.

The bad review is not because of the cave or the location, it is because of the treatment, attention and understanding received. We went to visit it with a reservation purchased in advance, unfortunately we had an accident and we arrived 45' late and they told us that we could no longer enter and that if we wanted to visit it, it would have to be the next day in the afternoon, which was impossible for us since we were on the route and we would no longer be in the area, we told them that since we were a group of 13 people and that there were no other visitors, they would let us visit them even if it were in a faster way, their response was no. resounding, with which, we ask for the refund of the amount and your response, which is even less. Our NO visit turned out to be profitable for them, since they sold our hour to another group, that means that with that visit they earned double. Bravo!!! I recommend not purchasing online reservations.

A guided 45 minute tour through fully lit passage, stopping in larger chambers. The young Spanish guide gave us info sheets in English and pointed things out to us.
