MEHAKA - Espace historique Lower Navarre, history, exhibition, guided tours

Located in the heart of the village of Baigorri, the Mehaka historic center takes you to discover the history of Lower Navarre, one of the seven Basque provinces. The formation and evolution of its territory stem from a history that is as singular as it is captivating. Did you know, for example, that Lower Navarre is the origin of the title "King of France and Navarre" worn by Henry IV and his successors?

So don't wait any longer and come discover Mehaka. The exhibition housed in the center traces the history of Lower Navarre from its formation at the end of the 12th century, until the disappearance of its institutions following the French Revolution.

Through animated videos, maps, copies of written and archaeological documents, and many other media, the commune of Saint-Étienne-de-Baïgorry wanted to transmit a part of its local heritage to a wide audience who came on all sides.

The Mehaka historic center is free of charge from Monday to Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
