Talaia, personalized Makila walking sticks in the Basque Country

Rediscover the pleasure of walking with the Makila from the Talaia brand, flexible and resistant poles made from ash wood. Here again, Japan is making a place for itself in Basque traditions and shaking up the codes since Éric uses the burned wood technique to create these little wooded jewels . Under the effect of heat, the wood hardens and takes on a soft caramel color, revealing the natural furrows of the ash and protecting the wood at the same time. No need for chemicals, the oil is enough to maintain the Makila Talaia. With a flat black horn or bone pommel, they are available in 4 customizable sizes, and serve as both a walking stick and a decorative element once the hike is finished.

Talaia, accessories inspired by the region to maintain its Basque products

Passionate about his region, Éric opts for local commitment and calls on local artisans to develop quality products. Makila walking poles are carefully protected by a cover made by the Lartigue 1910 company in pantxiba, an authentic Basque product which is used to make the espadrilles. To avoid damage, the stainless steel tips of the Basque Makila are covered with a rubber tip, thus preserving the quality and beauty of the work carried out by Éric in his workshop. The knives are quite simple to maintain since you just need to brush them regularly with oil to nourish the handle and the blade. Do not hesitate to contact Eric who will be delighted to advise you on the care to be given to your 100% Basque - 100% authentic creations.
