    • TALAIA: A must-see craft workshop in the Basque Country

Éric, a passionate craftsman, is driven by his love of beautiful things and a job well done. Initially passionate about motorbikes, he was able to transform his quest for precision and aesthetics into true artisanal know-how. Today, his TALAIA workshop, located in Anglet between Bayonne and Biarritz, is a place where tradition and creativity blend. Specializing in the creation of Basque walking sticks inspired by the makila and regional and Japanese knives, Éric invites you to immerse yourself in the history and traditions of the Basque Country through unique and authentic objects.

TALAIA: The excellence of Basque cutlery in Anglet

The Basque knife, a symbol of tradition and expertise, is at the heart of the TALAIA workshop. Éric perpetuates this rich history with talent and meticulousness by offering a varied range of Basque knives :

      • Basque pocket knives with a lock or forced lock,
      • Basque table and kitchen knives ,
      • Iconic models like the TTIPIA, HANDIA, SUKALDIA and NAFARROA.

Each Basque knife is crafted from premium materials: handles made of juniper, olive, ebony, or boxwood, and blades made of forged steel or Damascus steel. The handles, with their soft, elegant lines, are reminiscent of a stock, almost as long as the blade, for a perfect grip.

These creations, certified by a label of quality and authenticity, reflect the artisanal excellence of the Basque Country. Complete your collection with a cutting board or a wooden box, designed with the same care and attention to detail.

TALAIA: Unique Basque walking sticks inspired by the makila

The makila , an ancient walking stick reserved for the nobility, is being revived thanks to Eric. Reinterpreted to regain its original function, the Talaia stick is the perfect companion for hiking enthusiasts.

Crafted from ash wood, it features a black horn or bone pommel, an engraved brass ring, and a stainless steel tip. Available in four sizes and fully customizable, this pole combines elegance, strength, and practicality. The flexibility of the wood and ergonomic grip make it an essential accessory for your outdoor adventures.

Once your hike is over, the Talaia makila finds its perfect place in a living room, becoming a unique decorative piece, a testament to traditional Basque craftsmanship.

TALAIA: Authentic Basque products not to be missed

In his Anglet shop, Éric offers you an immersion in a world of craftsmanship steeped in tradition and modernity. Whether you are drawn to the functional beauty of Basque knives or the timeless elegance of Talaia walking sticks, each piece tells a story and reflects the identity of the Basque Country.

Let yourself be seduced by these handmade objects, designed with passion and precision, and leave with a piece of history to share or keep. TALAIA is much more than a workshop, it is an experience to live.
