Everyone knows the umbrella, but do you know the shepherd's umbrella? A true emblematic object of the rural life of shepherds watching over the flocks, it is today the symbol of a tradition and endures over time, preserved by craftsmen. This is the case of Éric, a passionate cutler who develops his art and his creations up to the shepherd's staff, which he reinvents as a shepherd's umbrella. Discover his unique and atypical world in Anglet, between Bayonne and Biarritz, you will fall for his quality products.

Shepherd's Umbrella, a traditional object essential in the Basque Country

The Talaia shepherd's umbrella is unique in its kind since it was born from the association of the Talaia walking stick and the umbrella of Hervé and Christophe Panto, enthusiasts who have been passing on their know-how for 3 generations. A thick cotton canvas, 9 rattan ribs, a burnt ash wood mast and a buffalo horn or manech knob, these are the characteristics of an authentic shepherd's umbrella. These criteria are respected with the Talaia shepherd's umbrella with the handle which is even marked with the 7 bands representing the Basque provinces. Fall for this object of art and decoration imagined by 4 hands in the Basque Country.

Parapluie du Berger, a high-end collection presented in Anglet

The Basque Country is a region rich in history and traditions defended by Éric in his workshop-boutique Talaia with unique creations. His shepherd umbrellas, 100% Basque and 100% authentic, are available in 5 colors with 3 different knobs to choose from: black horn, manech horn or bone reminiscent of ivory. It is also possible to order your custom-made shepherd umbrella and have a symbol, initials or logo engraved on the knob, as well as a phrase on the brass ring. Bring back an ancestral souvenir of your trip to the Basque Country with a functional and symbolic shepherd umbrella designed by a passionate craftsman.
