    • The San Telmo Museum is located in the old town of San Sebastián , in one of the few buildings that survived the city fire of 1813, a 16th-century Dominican convent that has been restored and expanded with an avant-garde proposal. Its headquarters masterfully combines the old part, in which the church stands out - with the impressive canvases of Sert and the cloister with the new construction.

Inaugurated in 1902, San Telmo is the oldest museum in the Basque Country and the largest center dedicated to the interpretation of Basque society. Its exhibition presents the most important events, behaviors and ways of thinking and living that have shaped Basque society from its origins to the present. For this reason, San Telmo is the ideal place to discover the history, culture and ways of life of the Basque people through a valuable heritage that is combined with audiovisual and interactive resources to transform the visit into an experience to discover and enjoy.

The museum also has an art collection with works from the 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, which are exhibited chronologically. In this way, not only do we delve into the history of art through the hand of figures such as Tintoretto, Ribera, Rubens, Beruete, Fortuny, Madrazo or Miró, but it also allows us to know the evolution of artistic styles over time. The Basque art section also stands out, with paintings and sculptures from the 19th and 20th centuries by Zamacois, Lecuona, Oteiza, Chillida, Nagel and Ameztoy, among others.

In addition, the museum presents temporary exhibitions of varied styles and themes which complement an interesting and quality program throughout the year.

A beautiful museum, even if you are from Donosti I highly recommend going. I have gone several times and I never get tired of it.

We originally went here for a Jazzaldia concert. Came back because it is beautiful. We even paid the admission although some days are free. Yes, there are some shortcomings, but it was interesting...

We went on a Tuesday (which was the only day we could), and it's free then, which is worth knowing. Turned out to be really interesting, although there were really only two things to see. The main...

Built around a former church and cloister, a variety of collections are well displayed and arranged. It took a while to understand the layout, because it was arranged around themes rather than...
