Confituras Goya Confectionery and artisanal chocolates

  • English
    • Founded in 1886, Confituras Goya is a family business dedicated to artisanal confectionery and chocolate that currently has a production center located in Vitoria-Gasteiz and ten stores, distributed between Vitoria-Gasteiz, Bilbao and Pamplona, in which it markets all of its products. range of products (pralines, truffles, nougats, chocolates, jams, pastries, pastries, sweets, etc.).

Confituras Goya was founded in 1886 by Manuel Goya, who opened his first establishment on Mateo Moraza Street in Vitoria. At that time, the confectionery shops made sweets but also candles, since both products had a raw material in common; Honey.

His son Saturnino Goya succeeded him, moving the workshop and store to what is now Dato 6 Street (then "Ensanche de la Estación").

It was during the time of José Goya Mendizábal, the third generation, that the innovations were incorporated that, over time, became the main characteristics of the company. In the 1920s, he created the chocolates "Vasquitos and Nesquitas", which were initially only two varieties to which other delicacies were added such as Bocaditos, Kirris, Goyescos, Basque Fruits, etc., as well as Truffles. Later, he also designed the famous box in which these chocolates are sold. When José Goya Mendizábal and Teresa García Ugalde got married, the Goya and García pastry shops merged, incorporating the Dato 20 store and moving the workshop to Ortiz de Zárate Street.

With José Manuel Goya García, the fourth generation, a great expansion and consolidation of the company was achieved by opening four new stores; Avenida Gasteiz 78, Avenida Gasteiz 45, Ortiz de Zárate 6 and Duque de Wellington 8. In 1997, the The workshop was transferred to a new pavilion on Barrachi Street 35. The new facilities have allowed the modernization of production processes, the expansion of the product range and the strengthening of its quality. Currently, Confituras Goya is already in its fifth generation and expands its network of stores regionally.

We ordered vasquitos and nesquitas, they recommended the metal boxes and we took the small one (€10), but it turns out that only a vasquito and a nesquita come and the rest is an assortment of chocolates that have nothing special (most of them with liquor ). The staff never informed us of this.

Traditional Vitorian pastry, with more than a century behind it. Several businesses spread throughout the city, with a very particular and old aesthetic. Vasquitos and nesquitas, tea cakes, various pastries, nougats at Christmas and of course truffles. I haven't had better ones anywhere else. Ideal for making a gift because there are no better ambassadors who are 200% recommended.

I ordered two deliveries of cupcakes and one arrived at its destination, the other did not. And their explanation is that the delivery man left it (where it wasn't, so I had to find out where they arrived). The service is regrettable. I will not come back. It's not that there was no one, it's that they left it where it didn't belong. And I had to be the one to investigate where they left them. You pay for a service and not only do they not do it, on top of that I have to call to see what has happened. And the only answer is, I'm sorry, after talking to them three times. A shame!

Premium products, super nice service, and the local is beautiful. We went in search of the typical product of Vitoria, the vasquitos and nesquitas.

I went in to look for nougat because I'm far from home and upon entering I saw a 3.7 and it seems so sad because it's unfair for one of the best confectioneries in Spain (for me the best without a...
