Adam House A gourmet must-see in the Basque Country

It was in 1660 that Louis XIV gave Maison Adam its fame by tasting a few macaroons during his wedding in Saint-Jean-de-Luz with the Infanta of Spain. Since that day, the same shop at 6 Rue de la République has sold the same macaroons that the king had the opportunity to taste as well as other pastries from the region.

In their shops, you will of course find the real Saint-Jean-de-Luz macaroons, whose recipe has been held by Maison Adam since 1660 and has been passed down for 13 generations. These macaroons are made with almonds, egg white and sugar. Don't ask for more, the recipe has been secret for over 3 centuries.

The Basque cakesfrom Maison Adam are made and displayed every morning, whether with cream, cherry, chocolate or apricot-walnut. They are all generously filled. They are available in large format or individually for those who do not prefer to share.
