On the road to Iraty, the former Larrañeta grocery inn is now run by a couple of shepherds and their children.
Gilles and Lydia, opened "l'Étape des Bergers" in 2021. The bar has been put back into service and the old grocery store has been refurbished for the sale of their products. Then, Lydia went into the kitchen to offer you plates made up of charcuterie and meat from their farms (lamb, rib steak, prime rib, sausages) with fries, not to mention their pure sheep's cheese!Their life is punctuated by transhumance. 20 minutes from the inn, the herds are in the summer pastures near the peak of Béhorléguy from May to October. Two car itineraries are proposed to you to go up there to see the animals and discover the life of the shepherds in the mountain pastures. It's a nice walk!
